Vantini Amarone della Valpolicella 2011

R 725.00

At the beginning of the last century in the heart of the historical Valpolicella area, Angelo Vantini thought it would be a good idea to cultivate some of the family’s land by planting valuable and sturdy vines. His decision lead to the founding of a company that would continue for generations to come.

The history, the desire to uphold traditions, the culture of the vineyard, the experience within the winemaking business, technology and modern marketing have all fused harmoniously together in order to keep the initial origins alive. The results of these synergies are a series of wines that have been able to encompass the sun, the earth and the labour in the final product, which is also very well known for its quality.

COUNTRY: Italy

REGION: Valpolicella

GRAPE VARIETY: Corvina 75%, Corvinone 20%, Rondinella 5%.

VINIFICATION: The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of September and the beginning of October. They are placed in wooden or plastic pallets and stored in the drying room with a controlled level of ventilation, humidity and temperature until January or February.
During this period the bunches of grapes dehydrate, losing about 30% – 40% of their initial weight. In January, de-stemming and crushing takes place and the wine is fermented in steel tanks at a low temperature of about 20°. The soaking also takes place with daily pumping-over of the wine for 20 days. The wine is then transferred to oak barrels for a minimum of 36 months. Before being sold, the wine rests in bottles for a further 6 months. If well-conserved this wine will exceed all its qualities in the 7 or 8 years after being harvested.
We recommend laying the wine in a dark, cool area with a constant temperature and level of humidity.

CHARACTERISTICS: Clear burgundy colour with delicate, full-bodied, warm and velvety flavour. A well-structured wine, elegant
and spicy with a hint of mature red fruit

ALCOHOL CONTENT: 15% vol
